If you are like me, you are both shocked and feeling Ambivalent with the price of gas being between $3.59 - $3.99 per gallon here in
Chicago! I’m shocked that prices have gone so high and no one seems to care about it except the car companies that are taking advantage and pushing their “Hybrid” vehicles in the recent commercials. I’m shocked that I’ve started to ration myself and only fill up part of the tank each week rather than filling up the entire tank (this helps me to think about the driving that I MUST do, rather than just jumping into the car and go). But it’s hard in a business such as real estate where we depend on the gas and our cars to perform our duties for our clients. For pleasure, my choices lately have been to avoid driving, take the CTA whenever I have to go downtown (avoids the parking fees or tickets, whichever is more appropriate), walking more. I have just been recently reminded by the perfect weather that we’ve had all week that… There is a dusty bike in my storage room that I can pump up the tires with air and go for a ride!Chicago in addition to being a great place to invest, purchase and own real estate, or being dog and pet friendly is amazingly a bike friendly metropolitan city. There are plenty of routes within downtown and the state of
Illinois for beginner and experienced cyclists to explore. Various neighborhoods and community organizations now host and conduct group bike rides and tours on a regular basis. Mayor Daley of
Chicago is a big advocate for bicycling and helps kick off the festivities each year with “Bike the Drive” where participants have Lakeshore all to themselves for a few hours and can enjoy the scenery on their bicycles (Yes, without any cars on LSD). To further proof that the Mayor’s a big cycling enthusiast… a few full pages are now dedicated to cycling activities on the Mayor’s Office’s of Special Events Website Click Here with upcoming events.Take advantage of the great weather and the many cycling opportunities available around the Chicagoland area. See you on the bike trails!
